Nigeria vs South Africa encounter has brought reactions from the country's number one citizen - President Muhammadu Buhari hailed the three-time African champions' performance - Buhari urges Nigeria to win their remaining two matches and bring back home the AFCON trophy President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated the Super Eagles after defeating South Africa 2-1 to advance into the semi finals of AFCON 2019. The president was full of belief that Nigeria are capable of winning their fourth title after recording a well-deserved victory over Bafana Bafana. In a statement by his media aide, Mr. Femi Adesina, the president urged the team and their handlers to remain focused, disciplined and win the remaining two matches of the tournament.

President Buhari on a Tweet, said Congratulations to the Super Eagles on a well-deserved victory over South Africa, tonight. You represent the resilient and indomitable Nigerian spirit. Two more victories, and the coveted Trophy will come home to us. All Nigerians are looking forward eagerly.

The Super Eagles started their campaign in the tournament in Group B after with two 1-0 wins over Burundi and Guinea before losing to Madagascar in the group stage. Gernot Rohr's men then went on to knock defending champions, Cameroon out in the last 16 before booking the semi final ticket with win against Bafana Bafana. 
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Nigeria defeated South Africa 2-1 in an AFCON 2019 quarter final clash at the Cairo International Stadium. Samuel Chukwueze opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Bongani Zungu equalized in the 71st but William Troost-Ekong scored the winner in the 89th minute as the Super Eagles progressed into the semi finals.
